I met Streak at the Greece Ridge Mall Lollypop Farm branch. My cat of many years had passed away and I was looking for another fur baby to love. I saw many cats and Breanna a worker at Lollypop Farm pointed out Streak. She had been brought to Lollypop Farm with brothers and sisters all of whom had been adopted. No on wanted Streak as she was fearful of people and could be aggressive if approached. She was named Streak because that’s all you would see was a streak of brown/black streaking by. Breanna had been working with Streak to get her used to people. She brought Streak to the meet and greet room and placed her on my lap. She was scared and I talked to her. Breanna told us no one wanted her because she was not sociable and she was afraid of many objects that were used to correct behavior. The lady thing Breanna said was if she was not adopted she’d be put down as a feral cat. We adopted her. When we hit her home she jumped out of the box and went to hide. She hissed at our other cat and ran for the basement and behind the washing machine. My husband figured we could put her in the cat carrier and bring her upstairs. His plan was to nudge her with the broom into the waiting carrier. The broom frightened her and she ran with us following and leaped over my head and caught my arm with her claws dangling there for a moment then flew up the stairs and behind the couch. We let her be for the night. The next morning I crawled behind the couch and peeked under to find her all curled up. I talked to her and gave her some treats. Slowly she nibbled them. I put a litter box water and food behind the couch which was evident that she used when no on was around. I would visit her in her safe place and dangle her knitted mousie toy to play with and bring her treats. She slowly allowed me to pet her. She lived that way for days until one day she ventured out into the room. She met Peanut Butter our other cat and learned to love us and him. When peanut butter passed away she was sad. We adopted Dusty but it took a while for her to adjust to him but they became snuggle buddies just like she had been with Peanut butter. When Dusty passed away we adopted Snow. She became very fond of him and they were always together. Suddenly Snow passed away and she was sad. She was very young when we adopted her but the other cats had been older. We used to say she outlived 3 husbands. I told her I would bring her a new husband and this time he’d be younger. We adopted another Dusty. She was learning to enjoy his company. They would chase each other around and always waited for each other to eat together. We noticed Streak had been slowing down and not running as much. She found jumping was getting harder and she spent more time near the fireplace. She wasn’t well. The vet came and said her heartbeat was weak. She was put to sleep in front of the fireplace that she loved leaving her 4th husband alone to mourn. She passed away
