Just any of his 14th birthday, Haro gained his angel wings peacefully next to the Christmas tree, surrounded by loved ones after a battle with relapsed cancer that had metastasized. Haro life started at Lackland Air Force base where he was born into training to become a military K9. At two years old he completed his initial training and was certified in patrol and drug detection and left the US to be stationed in Atsugi, Japan as a US Navy K9. He stayed here for roughly nine years before retiring, and being adopted by a close friend of his last handler. Haro spent four glorious years of retirement with his adopter traveling abundantly for work and fun, living in Japan, NYC, Western NY, and Boston. It took Haro a couple months to ease in to retirement and understand that he could approach people and receive all the pets he desired, but once he understood this he was living his best life. Absolutely loved to be surrounded by people, go on car rides, flop on the carpet and chomp his beloved kong “wubbas”, eat his meals and carrot sticks, and explore anywhere with new smells. Although he never quite figured out how to fully interact with other dogs and cats once retired, he was amazed and intrigued with horses, and the gentlest giant with children and the elderly.. loved his 101 year old great grams. The void that Haro’s absence leaves in our hearts is vast and will never quite heal, it just goes to show how truly unique and special that goodest boy was! Love you lots my sweet bubbas, may you prance around peacefully forever with an endless supply of wubbas and pets.
