Precious came to us through Joyful Rescues in Cuba NY. We picked her out online then went to meet her locally at Petco. When I first saw her, I was in love and also in shock – Precious had seven 4 inch long nipples from her recent litter, most certainly a home based puppy mill in the south. No matter, we took her home to our family. Her first 2 years of life must have been horrifying. Just hours after arriving at our home, she was so anxious, her heart was pounding out of her chest. We spent 4 hours in the doggie ER that night. But slowly, she settled into our family, our lives and our hearts. Precious spend most of her youthful days chasing squirrels, escaping the yard and roaming the neighborhood. As she got older, she would lay on the deck soaking up the sun, grew lovely lady lumps and blew gas like it was her job. Precious had many amazing and unique quirks – she would come to the side of the bed and wake us up with a grunt or two, as if to say time to eat Dad. She would sometimes look at you and wink, or even give a whats up head nod. But our favorite was her good ole side-eye. Putting a dog down is hard – we all know that. But the kind and compassionate people from Pet Passages and Doorbell Vet made today just a little easier to say goodbye. Thank you for taking care of our baby girl.
