Miss Puppy was my loyal & beloved black and silver Miniature Schnauzer for nearly 15.5 years. She was much more than a pet, she was my best friend for most of my adult life- traveling to and living with me in every city I’ve ever resided and also most that I visited. She was in her prime on Keuka Lake–loving to fetch sticks that I threw into the lake for her and Maggie— she would often scramble to collect all the sticks in her mouth before Maggie jumped in. She would also often swim in circles around our dock and neighbors’ docks for half an hour or more at a time without even getting out of the water. She loved boat rides and sniffing the air as the wind passed through her beard. Anytime Miss Puppy was out in the yard and out of sight, she would always come running if we asked her if she wanted to “go to the lake and go swimming.” She knew exactly what that meant and didn’t even hesitate if we offered it to her in the middle of winter, just to get her back inside! There are so many more memories, it’s just hard to put them all into words right now. She was such a special girl who lived life to the fullest as long as she could. Miss Puppy fought til the very end and did not want to leave my side. I love you Miss Puppy and I will cherish our memories forever. I know you’ll always be with me. She died at midnight earlier today (last night), and, tonight at sunset, there was a double rainbow over the lake. I knew when I saw it, and my niece brought it to my attention before I had even looked out the window, that Miss Puppy brought us a rainbow to tell us she was okay. Thank you for the double rainbow and thank you for all the years together Miss Puppy! PS- We were given another rainbow the evening we picked Miss Puppy’s cremains up from Pet Passages!
