Our Mahi Mahi was rescued by my daughter, Katrina while away at school. She was soaked in the rain. Katrina’s dorm did not allow pets with the exception of fish, hence she was named Mahi.
Mahi was so tiny as a kitten, she often curled up in a teacup! She remained petite as a full grown cat.
Mahi loved her human family and all the other felines that she shared space with. Because she would back down from any aggression from other animals, we referred to her as a our ‘pacifist’. Mahi had a wonderful life roaming the woods behind our home and the garden on our cul-de-sac. She grew alongside with our children and lived a very rich life. As she aged she spent most of her time following her ‘grandma’ and ‘grampa’ during the day and loved napping with them in the afternoons. Mahi enjoyed watching her grandpa tinker around the house and grandma playing cards
As cancer became her battle in her last few months on Earth, she carried a quiet wisdom in her eyes. She looked deeply into mine expressing that it was time to say goodbye. When she visited the Urgent care, we both knew she would not be leaving with me. I held her for 45 minutes telling her how much she was loved and I reminded her of the wonderful life she lived. I will always miss you. Each night is so hard not having you breathing in my ear or stroking my hair. I miss your kisses in the morning and how you would talk with me everyday. I am so grateful that I had you in my life and I know we will be reunited after death.
Here’s to you my feline friend! Be free, well and full of joy, until we meet again. Forever and always in my heart ❤️
I miss you little Mahi. Thank you for being a light in my life
