Katie was our loyal cat/fur daughter, 13 yr old she will be missed KATIE’S POEM It’s 2 minutes to 7,And you’re no where to be found,Not a tail to the face,Not a single sound,You weren’t cuddled by my pillow, I hardly slept at all, I tried not thinking about it, But it drives me up the wall,You’ve always been vocal, When you wanted things your way,Knowing someone would give in,Like we knew what you had to say,I’m looking at your bowl, In the corner by the door,With a few crumbs,Left from the day before, Morsels overlooked by the dogs,Too dried up to eat,I pick it up from the floor,Now i have both dogs at my feet,They notice that you’re not with them,So the run to see why,They search everywhere, And that brings a tear to my eye,I can talk about the rainbow bridge, And why I’m feeling sad,While trying to convince everyone, To be thankful for the time we had,They really don’t understand this,And there’s nothing i can do,My words would fall on deaf ears,And they’d continue searching for you, I wish this was easier,And i never knew the ache,Of loving something so much,It causes my heart to break,But I’d wear that crown proudly, As the parent of a broken heart, Because saving you saved me,And you knew that from the start.LARRY BRACEY 2022
